About Bookingly

A small Adelaide business with one simple goal: make bookings easy.

Our story

Bookingly started in 2023 in Adelaide, South Australia. A friend who worked in a salon kept complaining about the booking management system they had to use every day. It was clunky, it was slow, and it got in the way of the actual work of looking after clients.

Greg set out to build something better, with one guiding principle: make bookings easy. Easy for the business owner to set up and run, and easy for customers to book without friction.

Greg Taylor

Owner and operator

Originally from New Zealand, Greg now lives and works in Adelaide. He has a real passion for software development, is a senior in his field, and has been a full stack developer for 14 years, working across everything from databases and back-end services to the interfaces people actually use.

Every part of Bookingly is built and looked after by someone who understands how it works from the ground up.

Important

AI, software and why trust matters

AI is changing software development faster than anything we have seen in our careers. Used well, it is a powerful tool, and we use it too. But it has also made it possible for almost anyone to produce an app that looks finished in an afternoon.

That is the danger of "vibe coding". Software that is generated without being understood can work in a demo and still be fragile, slow and insecure underneath. When nobody on the team knows why the code works, nobody knows how it will fail, and the people who pay for that are the customers whose data is inside it.

Deep understanding of the fundamentals still matters more than ever:

  • Fundamentals. Knowing how data, networks, databases and browsers really behave, so you can tell when generated code is wrong.
  • Security. Authentication, access control, input handling and payments are not places to guess. A single mistake can expose your customers.
  • Performance. Fast, reliable software does not happen by accident. It comes from design and measurement, not from adding more code.

As more software is produced this way, it will become harder and harder to tell a weak system from a strong one. Both will have a clean interface and a confident website. The difference only shows up when something goes wrong.

That is why security and trust have to come first. When you choose a booking system you are trusting a company with your business, your customers' details and your payments. Choose the companies you work with carefully, ask how they build and protect their software, and favour the ones that can answer with confidence. We intend to be one of them.

Work with us

Need Bookingly to do something it doesn't do out of the box? We take on custom integrations for businesses that want their bookings to connect to the real world.

  • Smart locks. Give customers access only for the time they have booked, with no keys and no one waiting at the door.
  • Smart lights. Switch the lights on for a court or room when a booking starts and off again when it ends.
  • Other connected systems. Heating, access control, and other tools and services your business already uses.

Tell us what you have in mind and we'll let you know honestly what is possible, how long it would take, and what it would cost.
